Sketches are a great design tool that make swift work of creating fabulous pages you can be proud of. They also help you quickly and efficiently use up your paper crafting stash. It’s no secret that when it comes to my supplies, I’ve got enough to share with a room full of crafters, and then some. A blessing and a problem all rolled into one. Before I found sketches, I used to stand in my scrap room and stare at all the neatly organized bins filled with cardstock, patterned paper, stickers, embellishments, memorabilia, fabric and vintage goods and wonder how I was ever going to use it all. At least, in this lifetime. Then I discovered sketches. Problem solved.
Now that I’ve got my monster of a paper crafting stash tamed, I’m here to help you! In Sketch Your Stash, you’ll learn the basics of sketch elements, the different types of sketches and how to adapt them to any paper crafting project, from layouts and cards to altered art and home décor projects.
Then you’ll dive deep into using sketches to create both single and double-page layouts, with a focus on using lots of elements. After all, the more elements you use, the more reasons you’ll have to use up your stash! You’ll then take the sketches to the next level by using them to create fun and funky projects other than scrapbook layouts.
Eight sketches will be provided (along with resources for even more sketches) and with each sketch, you’ll experiment with techniques that will have you using your stash to create the elements on each sketch. You’ll also have a variety of techniques to choose from with each sketch for a total of 24 techniques – some old, some new, and some the tried-and-true kind with a different twist.
And don’t worry about not having the same types of tools or products than me. I’ll share a variety of product and technique options to achieve the sketch elements and alternatives and substitutions whenever possible. The goal is to use your stash, so we’ll find a way to make it happen!
The total amount of completed projects will vary by student. Samples will be given for four layouts per sketch, plus for cards, tags, gift ideas and home décor projects. By the end of the class, you’ll be a creating machine and you’ll have a big decision to make: keep on sketching or reward yourself with a shopping trip to refill your dwindling bins!
But first, you have to make the decision to join this self-paced class. Class size is limited, so register now!
